PRP Therapy

Discover how you can use your own blood to rejuvenate your skin!

You might have heard of PRP, which is often referred to as a ‘the vampire facial’; originally made popular by Kim Kardashian when she posted a selfie of her face covered in blood. But what exactly is it?

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy is an aesthetic treatment in which a small amount of a person’s blood is taken, processed, and then injected back into their body in order to stimulate healing and regeneration.

How does it work?

Platelet-rich plasma is a part of our blood which consists of different growth factors (signaling molecules between cells). Once your blood has been taken, the processed platelets are separated from your other blood cells before it gets injected back into an area of your body.

The treatment can be used to stimulate hair growth; reduce dark circles and eyebags; rejuvenate the face through wrinkle reduction, plumping and tightening; as well as aiding wound healing and scar removal.

Because PRP contains substances that come directly from your own body, there is little risk of experiencing an allergic reaction. However, like other injectable procedures, you may experience bruising or tenderness at the injection site, and there is a risk of infection.

How long does it last?

Results of PRP therapy are usually noticed three to four months following the initial treatment, and a follow up procedure is held after around six months.

After that, you may need a follow up every six-twelve months.
